THIS recognition from a respected panel of judges on behalf of UK Health Radio reflects the demands of providing end-of-life care, which requires empathy, skill and a sensitive approach tailored very specifically to each individual.
Helen was inspired to develop specialist training through her own clinical practice and volunteer role in a hospice environment. Her experience made her keenly aware of the benefits of complementary therapy in enhancing quality of life in these difficult circumstances.
This pioneering concept, accredited by the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia (BTAA) and others, is now seen as the benchmark for similar courses. Helen teaches therapists from around the UK and overseas enabling more patients to benefit. Her course is being adapted for use in at least one NHS hospital.
A holistic approach supporting conventional treatment has been shown to bring immense benefit to those with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, neurological and auto-immune diseases. While complementary therapies such as reflexology, aromatherapy and Bowen can bring many benefits, specialist training is critical to ensure therapists feel confident in sensitive circumstances where protocols and procedures are even more important.
Helen’s training equips Bowen therapists with the necessary knowledge, insight, understanding and confidence to provide appropriate treatment and ensure best outcome… whether this be in the patient’s own home, in hospital, hospice or day centre.
The two-day course is an intensive, interactive experience covering workplace setting and best practices, liaison with medical staff, relationship with patients, carers and relatives, protocols and processes, communication and counselling skills. In addition to the BTAA it is accredited by Bowen Therapy Professional Association (BTPA) and Bowen Association UK.
